 The Digidestined find an abandoned factory guarded by Andromon, who is being controlled by a black gear. Because he is mostly machine, Andromon is much stronger than the rest of the Digimon, even after they've digivolved.
Izzy is able to use a new computer program to help Tentomon digivolve into Kabuterimon. Kabuterimon uses his Electro Shocker to destroy the black gear and free Andromon.

 Monzeamon captures the Digidestined and locks them in a trunk that will erase their feelings.
Palmon is able to digivolve into Togemon and free Monzeamon from the black gear that was controlling him.

 The Digidestined are frustrated over their inability to return home and begin fighting amongst themselves. As the oldest, Joe feels it's his duty to try and restore peace among the younger children.
He decides to climb Mount Infinity to find the source of the black gears by himself. But he runs into Unimon, who is being controlled by a black gear already. Gomamon is able to digivolve into Kabuterimon and free Unimon.

 The Digidestined think they've caught a break when they manage to find a warm cabin full of delicious food and comfortable beds.
However, this is a trap set by Devimon, and he manages to separate them all over the Digital World. Tai and Agumon are able to free themselves in time but are too weak to stop Devimon. However, they manage to free Leomon from Devimon's control, and he buys them enough time to run away.
